Finding Heroes Park in Somonauk
In
addition to it’s function as a park, Finding
Heroes Park in Somonauk serves as a learning tool
about navigation and is a micro monument to 124,917
American armed forces personnel buried in 24 foreign
cemeteries and some 94,000 missing in action or buried at
sea.
The Park was planned and constructed on a 2
acre site in Somonauk by retired farmer Tom
Warren. He donated the park to the village after
construction was completed.
A stranger in Somonauk may not be aware of it’s
presence as it is located in a residential
subdivision in the NW corner of the village. It
is well worth the effort to make a trip
dedicated to visiting this outdoor classroom and
tribute to our fallen
heroes in a beautiful park setting. Click the
links for more information.

oriented event that attracts people from a wide area.
Last year the Lions added a mini tractor pull that
proved to be very popular. They are planning further
additions for 2012 including a focus on more antique
truck exhibits. Click to view the Waterman
