Finding Heroes Park in Somonauk
In
addition to it’s function as a park,
Finding Heroes Park
in Somonauk serves a learning tool about
navigation and is a micro monument to 124,917 American
armed forces personnel buried in 24 foreign cemeteries
and 94,000 missing in action or buried at sea.
The Park was planned and constructed on a 2
acre site in Somonauk by retired farmer Tom
Warren. He donated the park to the village after
construction was completed.
A stranger in Somonauk may not be aware of it’s
presence as it is located in a residential
subdivision in the NW corner of the village. It
is well worth the effort to make a trip
dedicated to visiting this outdoor classroom and
tribute to our fallen
heroes in a beautiful park setting. Click the
links for more information.

The
Waterman Lions Club
will hold it's annual Summerfest
and Antique Tractor Show Saturday
July 21, 2012 at Lion's park in Waterman. This a
popular family oriented event that attracts
people from a wide area. Last year the Lions
added a mini tractor pull that proved to be very
popular. They are planning further additions for
2012 including a focus on more antique truck
exhibits. Click to view the Waterman
Lion's 2012 Summerfest poster.
